In 2024, Valeria joined the CT Public Newsroom, in partnership with PBS and NPR, as the Gwen Ifill Investigative News Intern.
Under the tutelage of The Accountability Project team at CT Public Radio, I learned to tell engaging stories for listeners; researched and interviewed sources; effectively shot and edited sound for a radio spot; practiced writing ‘cut-and-scripts’ with a quick turnaround; and built strong connections with CT media professionals.
During her time as an intern, she published an investigation into the CT State Community College system on the lack of faculty diversity and its effects on student growth. The story aired on NPR in April of 2024 and can also be found on the CT Public website here.
